At Flying Angels, every child is welcomed regardless of background, and the school’s compassionate atmosphere is strengthened by the many teachers and staff who are themselves former Flying Angels students, uniquely able to understand the challenges their students face. Guided by a strong Christian foundation, the school meets academic, spiritual, and physical needs through quality education, daily mentorship, a children’s home, and a health clinic. In 2002, with no school building and lessons taking place under a tree, they chose to keep the school open to children from low income households in Ng’ombe so that they could continue learning. Priscilla recalls choosing the name “Fountain of Life” because “this is where life happens!”

Today, the school has flourished, now serving over 190 students who sit on desks instead of mats and benefit from an enriched learning environment. Ng’ombe Community School

  • Ng’ombe Community School is one of the pioneering schools in the area, founded in 1994 at a time when no government school existed in the compound. Established with a mission to educate and care for the community’s most vulnerable children, the school has grown to serve almost 400 learners from pre-grade to grade 7, with a unique extension to grades 8 and 9, one of the few places in Ng’ombe where older students can continue their education. Despite significant challenges during the expansion, School Director Catherine Changaya remained committed to supporting the youth of Ng’ombe, one of the most at-risk age groups, and together with her staff mobilized limited resources to make this vision a reality.

Today, the school plays a vital role in fighting illiteracy and promoting the value of education, offering some of the lowest fees in the community, providing discounts to ensure access, and delivering quality education to students. Known for its friendly environment, Ng’ombe Open also provides a nutrition program for grades 1–9, multiple extracurricular activities, and integrates modern technology.
