Meet the Board

Thank you to our board of directors in the U.S. and Zambia!

U.S. Board of Directors

Whitney Morreau Zulu

  • Motivated by her faith and a deep love for community transformation, Whitney founded Impact One Initiative in 2013. Holding a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia and extensive experience across African contexts, she leads the organization’s program design, development, and evaluation. Whitney is also the key voice behind Impact One’s vision—sharing it with new team members, partners, and supporters.

Although her leadership role includes many responsibilities, her favorite moments remain unchanged from the early days—training school leaders to reach their full potential and singing silly songs with the children she serves.

Shawn Turner

  • Shawn is a founding member of the Board of Directors and the Treasurer of the organization.  She brings vast experience working with nonprofit organizations in the Paducah area, as well as more than 40 years of experience in business management.   Since 2009, she has owned and operated Turner Communications.  She has served on multiple Board of Directors including for United Way Paducah and the Rotary Club of Paducah.  She is also active in her church, Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian, having served on the Mercy and Missions Committee, Stewardship Team, and as an Elder.  She is deeply committed to Impact One and its mission and therefore acts as a strong advocate to help equip our partner schools with the skills and resources to help them progress.  Shawn and her husband, Ricky, live in Paducah, KY.

Tommy Morreau

  • Since the inception of Impact One in 2013, Tommy has acted in an advisory role for the organization, as well as directing the various construction projects throughout the first decade of operations. Tommy brings 48 years of restaurant development and management experience as well as over 9 years of ministry work in 3 Sub-Saharan countries in the areas of logistics, church planting, and regional church development engagement. Tommy joined the board in March of 2023 to support development efforts and enhance the continued growth of the organization. The experiences of serving across Africa sparked a passion in Tommy to advocate for healthy development practices that dignify those it serves as it reflects the goodness of God. That tenant is the heartbeat of Impact One and continues to impact his choices in all of life.

Tommy and his wife Cyndi divide their time between Zambia and western Kentucky as they spend time with their 6 grandchildren scattered across the globe.

Beth Sales

  • Beth Sales graduated from Towson University with an Elementary Education degree.  She and her husband Tom are both educators in Baltimore, MD.  After teaching elementary school for several years, she stayed home to focus on raising her two boys.  Now that her boys are college age, she has gone back to teaching.  Beth teaches 6th grade Theology at Loyola Blakefield in Towson, MD.  She currently is working toward her master’s degree at Loyola University in Curriculum and Instruction for Social Justice.  Beth was inspired by the work Impact One Initiative was doing when she first visited in 2016 and then again in 2018.  Her heart for education and for seeing the schools, teachers and children of Ng’ombe supported and equipped is what motivates her to serve on the Board of Impact One.

Tifany DeGough

  • Tifany DeGough grew up in northern California and has proudly called Kentucky home for the past thirteen years. A lifelong follower of Christ with a heart for education and creativity, she is a homeschooling mom and small-business owner who designs and sells paper-crafting products. Tifany and her husband, Caleb, have been married for 23 years and have four children ranging from middle school age to adulthood.

Her experiences—shaped by motherhood, her journey through chronic health challenges, and the support of a strong church community—have deepened her compassion and strengthened her faith. Impact One resonates deeply with her passions for encouraging others, supporting overlooked communities, nurturing children, and investing in education, especially in Africa. Tifany is grateful to serve on the Board and to champion the mission of equipping schools, teachers, and children in Ng’ombe.

Matthew Newsom

  • Matthew Newsom’s heart for missions and education is woven throughout his studies, experiences, and career. He double-majored in Intercultural Studies and Elementary Education at Lee University, where a three-month internship in Lusaka became pivotal in shaping his calling. During his time working with Impact One, Matthew saw firsthand the life-changing power of investing in teachers and students. Since graduating, he has served in several educational roles in the U.S., including as a paraprofessional for Project SEARCH, 3rd-grade inclusion teacher, and self-contained teacher.

Matthew married his high school sweetheart in 2023, and together they returned to Lusaka to volunteer once again with Impact One. He has witnessed the organization’s growth and continues to be inspired by the deep love its staff shows to the children and teachers of Ng’ombe. Matthew is especially passionate about Impact One’s commitment to supporting and empowering community-school teachers, and he is honored to serve on the Board, supporting a mission that continues to shape both his faith and his calling.
